Angus Brown

Angus Brown

Angus was born  in South Africa, where he grew up in the city of Pietermaritzburg. Living in the city did not keep him from developing a deep love of nature, and the sports that go with it – hunting and fishing. Throughout his childhood, every minute of his spare time was spent either fishing in dams or rivers, or hunting with his trusty slingshot and air rifle in the neighboring farmlands.

Angus and Jenny were married in 1974, and before long Angus found a job as a Professional Hunter and game farm manager in the Ellisras area of the then Northern Transvaal – now Limpopo. He was one of the first three Professional Hunters in the area to welcome foreign hunters to South Africa.

In 1983 Angus left his job to start his own Outfitting business, which he has built over the past 3 decades into the successful and well known business it is today.

Angus was the first Outfitter in South Africa to specialize in bowhunting, and was an important part of the team which assisted the Department of Nature Conservation in establishing the minimum specifications for archery equipment for dangerous game hunts.

He has also served as an executive of PHASA, is a member of KZN Hunters Association and Lowveld Hunters Association, as well as Pope & Young and SCI.

Hunting is still Angus' passion in life, and he has been fortunate to hunt a wide range of species in many different countries.  In Africa, the list includes  South Africa, Botswana, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Zaire .  He has hunted in Alaska and many of the lower 48 states, as well as Canada, Europe, and Australia.

Recently Angus and Jenny relocated to a beautiful, mountainous ranch in the Free State which is home to a huge variety of species.   Here they continue to welcome hunters to their new lodge and to make their African dreams come true.
